Expression of Interest:• Enhance Gender-responsive Public Awareness and Participation: Increase Public Awareness and Promote Behavioral Change Regarding Solid Waste Management (swm) and the Principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3r) in the Project Area. Target Diverse Groups, Including Households, Local Communities, Schools, Resorts, Hotels, Guests, and Tourists, with a Focus on Encouraging Active Participation From Women and Marginalized Groups to Achieve Sustainable Waste Management Outcomes. • Develop Gender-efficient Capacity-building Programs: Strengthen the Capacity of Local Communities, Particularly on Outer Islands, in Community-based Solid Waste Management Practices. Ensure That at Least 50% of Participants in Training and Operational Programs Are Women, Thus Fostering An Inclusive Approach to Iwmc Operations and Maintenance. • Integrate Gender Considerations in Institutional Frameworks: Improve Institutional Awareness and Capacity Regarding Gender Issues Within the Context of Disaster Risk Reduction (drr) and Swm. Promote Gender-sensitive Policies and Practices Among Relevant Authorities and Community Organizations to Ensure That Women’s Needs and Contributions Are Recognized and Supported in Drr Planning and Implementation. • Facilitate Effective Implementation of the Gap: Ensure the Effective and Timely Implementation of the Gap Specific to Swm Activities. Gender Specialists Involved in the Project Will Provide Ongoing Technical Assistance and Strategic Guidance to Integrate Gender Equality Into All Project Components, Monitor Gender-related Progress, and Address Barriers to Women’s Participation in Solid Waste Management Initiatives. • Establish Mechanisms for Gender-disaggregated Data Collection: Develop and Implement Mechanisms for the Systematic Collection of Gender-disaggregated Data Related to Swm Practices and Community Engagement. This Will Enable Informed Decision-making and Assessment of the Impacts of the Project on Women and Men, Ensuring Targeted Improvements and Ongoing Adjustments to Strategies as Necessary.
the Community Mobilization and Gender Expert Will Support the Pmu with Overall Planning, Designing and Implementing Awareness, Behavior Change and Outreach Activities and Activities for Creation of Consumer Database in the Greater Male Region and Outer Islands Targeting Households, Businesses, Institutions, Hotels /guesthouses/resorts, Tourists, Solid Waste Collection Staff and Other Key Stakeholders. the Consultant Will Also Work Strategically Together with the Information Education and Communication (iec) Specialist of the Project to Implement the Gender Action Plan (gap). She/he Will: A. Use Communications Tools and Strategies to Effectively Inform and Engage the Various Stakeholders Through On-ground Activities and Approaches; B. Assist Pmu to Refine, Review and Implement Gender Targets and Activities, and Prepare a Gap Implementation Strategy to Align with Gap Activities Within Project Outputs. C. Support Relevant Stakeholders and Project Partners to Understand the Role of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment for the Program’s Defined Outputs. D. Lead the Formation of Community Groups, Particularly Womens Groups and Engage with Them Regularly to Build Their Social Leadership Skills and Provide Them Best Practices for Bringing Positive Behavior in Relation to Sustainable Swm; E. Represent Work Being Done in Community Participation and Women’s Empowerment Under the Project in Relevant Internal and External Forums; F. Liaise with Local Ngos and Cbos to Engage and Involve Them in Swm-related Activities; G. Support Implementation of Gap and Work Closely with the Iec Specialist in Preparing and Monitoring of the Gap Implementation Progress with Quarterly Reports;
